Running with purpose

I feel a bit weird writing this but am waiting for a lift back to the hospital. Dad is not good and it’s only a matter of time. I did a run this morning as I figured that I wouldn’t be able to go tonight. My coach Mary always says that each run should have a purpose. Making the most of things

No hesitation about running tonight. My father was admitted to hospital again and he’s in a bad state mentally with the dementia, worse than he’s ever been. He’s also bad physically - turns out he has a broken rib. The people in hospital will earn their money looking after him tonight. So I was determined to go when I could. Two posts in one day - must be a record! I decided to do a quick run to try out my new gear and get my head sorted. My granny always used to say ‘don’t get old Julie’ and I tell you, it’s no joke. My poor dad is seriously declining and is falling and the whole thing is just a nightmare. Old age is not for wimps. A good half and new runners

After all my talk on Wednesday I didn’t run down to my parents on Thursday; I drove. My mother had some jobs for me to do so it wasn’t really right to go down in sweaty gear. So instead of feeling guilty about my parents I felt guilty about not running. Great.
