India, interrupted

It’s the time of year where I renew my hosting of this site. I thought that I’d let it go, not renew it, because who cares about it etc etc, but when the time came I couldn’t do it, so I paid up. Too many memories attached. I know my mam likes my posts so I might as well do some! I have a million photos of my last trip so why not post them for posterity. And more travel is on the agenda.

When I was away I really didn’t have time to write anything – the agenda was full on and we were going the whole time. But I have time now, so why not. I realised that part of my reluctance to post was the whole issue of photos – no one cares about a wordy blog so you need photos, but the uploading and sizing of images was always a pain in the ass. Too big and no one can open them, or only very slowly. However I think the app allows me to automatically resize the photos so I will give it a go. Please let me know how the photos work.

So when I left off we were heading to Agra, the home of the Taj Mahal. Here’s one photo to get started.

The Taj Mahal – as magnificent as you expect

yes wp is not that good with photo posts. Maybe it is getting better. Bandwidth is no longer an issue, at least for me. I think they also increased the storage allowance.

It’s good to read your post even if once a year 🙂

    • Thanks Antin! I’m going to shoot for more than once…

  2. Great photo – but are you still running?

    • I am Vince! Was on and off for a while but I’m training for a half now at the end of March. Hope all is well with you – will catch up with your exploits

      • Excellent, very best of luck for the half.

Delighted julie that you are continuing the cranky blog. Mam

    • Thanks Mam!

  4. My Mum is also a fan of my blog, which always catches me off guard. I’d pop around the house and she’d say ‘oh, I see you were out running with Gary last week’ and I’d be scratching my head, trying to work out how she knew!
As regards pics, I used to go to all the trouble of actually opening everything in Photoshop and accurately resizing everything. I don’t know how you get your digital pics into WordPress, but I’m on Mac and use Photos. I don’t even bother with the WP gallery anymore coz it seems buggy and doesn’t allow batch uploads. So now I just download the pics I want to use from Photos onto the desktop at a large size, and drag and drop them where I want them. I can tidy and tweak them a little if required, using Preview, which is fairly basic but you can always crop, straighten and brighten, etc.
There is an ‘upload from phone’ option too but I haven’t tried it. Nor have I tried the AI option, although who couldn’t be tempted by ‘unironedman wins Dublin Marathon!’ just the once… 😉
