Tonight’s run should have happened yesterday but after the dentist I was taking it easy. And it was freezing. The dentist went better than expected, but there was still a lot of pulling and dragging so I was glad to stay in last night.
The weather has turned very cold here – snow is threatened for tomorrow so I said I might as well go tonight while it’s still dry. I know it’s nothing like the polar vortex some parts of the US are getting, but it could be enough to make running difficult. So I am making hay.
The temperature was 0 C, felt like -2, so it was chilly starting off but I soon warmed up. Kept all my gear on all the same. My shins felt a bit tight so I stopped to stretch – I pretty much ran out the front door which I don’t normally do, so probably wasn’t good for the muscles but it was too cold to hang around. So I kind of just ran faster than normal, probably 7/10 on the effort scale. It was too cold to be more technical about it. It will make me a better runner. That’s what I tell myself as I tramp around the streets in the dark and cold.
