It was another beautiful morning in Dublin, enhanced by the fact that my dad was ok overnight and wasn’t in hospital – yet. He’s not great and I think he will be admitted tomorrow. I hope we haven’t left it too late to bring him to hospital, but we have been there over bank holiday weekends before and it’s very unsatisfactory. At least it’s a full working day tomorrow.
So I took my chance and went out into 19 degree sunshine. There was a nice breeze which kept me cool, so that was very welcome. I ran about 1.5 miles through suburbia then reached the canal and it was absolutely glorious. Beautiful scenery, sky, atmosphere. I could have run along there for miles, but was mindful of the fact that I had to get home again so I turned around at 2.65 miles and did 5.3 miles in total. I thought I would be wrecked by the end but I felt good. I think it was the combination of the sunshine and the scenery. I had no breakfast, gin and wine last night, and high temperatures but I felt super. Who knew? I don’t think it is a policy for marathon training, but it worked today.
