No more excuses
Rather than make excuses about the weather or feel depressed about the size of my belly, I decided to go for a run, raining or not. I just wanted to get out. Luckily the rain stopped as I got home and it turned into a nice clear night, 4 degrees, feeling like 2 according to my phone. However there was no wind so it was actually very nice once I got going.
I ran 1.5 miles and then turned back as it was a nice, well-lit, leaf-free route. My luminous running jacket was a little tight around the belly but at this stage of my running career, and my life, I really don’t care how I look when I am running. The plan is that belly will shrink anyway.
I am going to run as often as I can, rather than wait for an appointed night, or for good weather. Every runner knows how good you feel after a run, and the hardest part is not talking yourself out of it. So, here I am delighted with myself, and with running.
Here’s something I’ve been sharing with my running friends. Why do we run? Maybe the answer’s in this podcast.

Thank you – will have a listen tomorrow. I know why I run though.
Joseph many thanks for sharing that podcast! I really enjoyed it. Great the way they discussed the challenges that women and black people deal with while attempting to go for a run.
