A good day

First time out in two weeks today, but I need to get back on track. Half marathon in March and I signed up to run 100 miles in February to raise money for the Mater Hospital, where my Dad was a patient for many years, and where he died. His consultant set up a fund in his name for oncology nurse education, so I am running to raise money for that. That will keep me on the straight and narrow! Seven days of running: day 7

My last day of my running challenge to myself was a bit of a slog; I really didn’t want to go but I didn’t want to fall at the last hurdle. So I forced myself out the door for 3 miles. It was a nice sunny morning so that helped. However I am glad I did it, as it was a good discipline for me. It’s not as if I don’t need to burn a few calories. Seven days of running: day 6

For the first time all week I didn’t really feel like going out this morning. I stayed up too late watching tv last night and was feeling anxious and low this morning. But I realised this was exactly the time when I should be running. I couldn’t face plodding around the neighbourhood again, so I drove down to the canal and ran 4 miles. As usual I was so glad I pushed myself out the door. I think a nap this afternoon might be in order...

Seven days of running: Day 5

Another day working from home, and after a good start in the morning, by 4.30 pm my motivation for work was low, and for running was high, so I legged it out the door before it got dark. It was cold but dry and clear with a beautiful half moon that kept me company all the way round. Good start to the weekend. I messed up the watch after a mile so two runs make the whole.
