Seven days of running: Day 4

I eased back into the working year by working from home today - delaying the commute till Monday. I started at 8 am and finished at 4.30 pm so I could get my run in before it got too dark. I always like being out at twilight: there is something special about it, the blue of the sky as it gets darker and darker, the daylight slipping away. It’s a tangible measure of time passing. After a day at the desk, it was good to get out and move.

Seven days of running: Day 3

We woke up in Dublin to a lovely bright sunny morning for the first day of 2020. By the time I got out the door it was less sunny, but overall it was a very nice start to the new running year. I was running quite fast for me, not sure why. Probably all the carbs and wine I’ve been having over the Christmas. Reality is about to hit me in the face big time.

Seven days of running: Day 2, end of the decade

Back to the Phoenix Park for my last run of the year, and decade. The end of the decade caught me by surprise really; so many things changed and some stayed the same for me. But definitely the best thing I did in this decade was start running. The next best thing I did was keep running. It has definitely changed my life and brought me so many benefits and achievements. Seven days of running – day 1.

To deal with the Christmas excess and to set my intention for the New Year, I created a little challenge for myself: go running every day this week, before I go back to work proper next Monday. I got a few runs in last week, but now that the Christmas obligations are pretty much over, I am going to run at least 3 miles every day. Got off to a good start today, 3.5 miles around the block and felt all the better for it.
