London virtual inspiration

I’m sitting here watching my recordings of the London marathon, which is an elite-only event on a rainy October morning, instead of April. Women first, so I still don’t know who has won and I’m avoiding social media! The men will keep me occupied for the afternoon. The elite runners are unbelievable - they are like machines. They are amazing and a far cry from me, but I did my last long run yesterday, 20 miles, ahead of our virtual marathon. I’m a bit tired and sore this morning, and glad to be tapering, but…

Virtual marathon update

It’s been a long time since I updated my poor blog. I suppose it’s the times that are in it; some things are more important. The good news is I have been training all summer for my virtual marathon, and we are up to 18 miles, which I did yesterday. The plan is to do our marathon on Sunday 25 October, which is the original date of the Dublin marathon. The bad new is that levels of the virus are rapidly rising in Dublin again, and we have entered a 3-week period of additional restrictions.…

Week 1 done

I’m a bit late as week 2 is well underway but for the record I should recount the rest of week 1. I was off work on Thursday, and a hilly run was on the agenda, so I headed out on a route that I hadn’t been on since the lockdown as I couldn’t cope with all the Covid exercisers clogging the footpath. WFH

Two days into marathon training and I’m still enjoying it! What a sadser I am. Up early two days in a row. Did a bit of speed work this morning, pretty short which suits me. The only good thing to come out of the pandemic has been the ability to work from home, and proving to the big bosses that it can be done. It took a while to settle into, but it’s brilliant not to have to commute. Rest day on the plan for tomorrow so can set the alarm a bit later.
