Happy birthday and happy memories

Today, 31 May 2020, would have been my father’s 79th birthday. It’s the first since he died last year and it’s been as emotional as you would expect. However, because of the lockdown my family wasn’t able to do what we usually would, get together and celebrate Dad’s birthday. My brother and I and our partners drove out to Glasnevin cemetery (separately, in convoy) where Dad is buried to find it closed due to the pandemic. Finishing the race

Almost a week later, my legs are just about getting back to normal so it’s probably time to document my second Dublin marathon. In some ways there is not much to say: I finished, 13 minutes quicker than last year; it was a glorious autumn day, perfect running conditions; I had a great time; I walked like a zombie after it.
