40 minute run on the agenda yesterday, preferably with hills. After my run down to my parents the other day I thought I would incorporate a visit to them with my training session. A good start

Tuesday nights are focused on speed and pace. It’s to help our stamina and speed and prevent us getting bored. It probably does all those things, and gives me the biggest red face. But I enjoyed it. There are numerous options for a speed run but I chose the simplest to get started: run out at normal pace for 20 minutes and then turn round and run home faster. And that’s what I did. And so it begins

Two runs to report today. Yesterday my marathon training proper started. I attended a workshop given by my running coach Mary Jennings on Thursday evening. Improvers marathon. So I’m officially an improver. Too right. The running plan is along the lines of last year. What I have to improve is myself. My two main objectives this year are to (i) improve my core strength, and (ii) not put on weight. Stressed out

A quick two miles yesterday evening. I was away last week and did a lot of walking so my body is a bit stiff and sore but I ran around the block. I am feeling a bit stressed about an exam I have next month, that I need to study for, but it’s hard to study and run on the same evening. Plus marathon training starts this weekend! So I don’t know if I’m coming or going, between one thing and another.
