On the road again

For numerous reasons (work, assignments, family events and illness) I haven’t run in over two weeks. Today was the first day things felt normal so I wanted to go and check that everything still worked. It was tea-time before I got out and about 17 degrees and sunny, but with a cool breeze that made it very pleasant. I took it very easy and just did two miles around the block. Excuses

Between one thing and another I didn’t run all week and I think I felt the negative effects yesterday morning, when I did. 5.25 miles. It was a combination of a few things: tiredness, sunshine in my face, an uninspiring route. It was a lovely sunny morning, though only 11 degrees, so I wasn’t expecting to find it tough so early on. Back on the canal

Unfortunately I was right about my father requiring admission to hospital. He’s been in almost two weeks now so between that and gale force winds last weekend (boy was I glad I wasn’t training for anything in particular so I could choose not to go out!) there wasn’t much time for running. No hospitals today

It was another beautiful morning in Dublin, enhanced by the fact that my dad was ok overnight and wasn’t in hospital - yet. He’s not great and I think he will be admitted tomorrow. I hope we haven’t left it too late to bring him to hospital, but we have been there over bank holiday weekends before and it’s very unsatisfactory. At least it’s a full working day tomorrow.
