A good day

First time out in two weeks today, but I need to get back on track. Half marathon in March and I signed up to run 100 miles in February to raise money for the Mater Hospital, where my Dad was a patient for many years, and where he died. His consultant set up a fund in his name for oncology nurse education, so I am running to raise money for that. That will keep me on the straight and narrow! Trying to act like a marathoner while on holidays

Greetings from sunny Malta! It’s a beautiful island in the Mediterranean, below Sicily, so it’s hot. Really hot. 30 by day, 25 by night. Not conducive to running but very conducive to lolling about, eating pizza and drinking during the day. However, I am conscious that I am due to run a marathon in 5 weeks and so have got out running on Sunday and this morning. Not enough

No running at all last week, mainly due to work. It was our quarterly reporting time and it’s always busy. I had to work on Saturday and had great intentions of going out on Sunday morning but wine and study commitments intervened. I left work an hour early this evening, taking back some of the time I worked last week, and went out into lovely weather. Excuses

Between one thing and another I didn’t run all week and I think I felt the negative effects yesterday morning, when I did. 5.25 miles. It was a combination of a few things: tiredness, sunshine in my face, an uninspiring route. It was a lovely sunny morning, though only 11 degrees, so I wasn’t expecting to find it tough so early on.
